Starflame Wingrider and Rider of Green Anaith

Udeya

Udeya's hair is an unremarkable wood-brown and is cropped just above her ears. Her bangs are the same length as the rest of her hair and are seem bleached by the sun to a pine hue. Her face is small and angular, coming to a point at the chin. Just above this point sits a pair of large pouting lips and even more sulking eyes of a steel blue. Udeya stands at a little less than six feet tall and a big girl, with long legs and wide feminine hips.

Smartly and modestly covering this rider’s big chest is a thick cotton shirt dyed in bright lavender, slightly unbuttoned at the neckline. Along one of the collars is a stitched green dragon, the color of her lifemate, and riding high on her breast is the green dragon patch of Starflame Wing. Her pants are a black heavy canvas-like linen and her thick black weyrhide boots are shiny from being polished regularly and reach to just below her knees.

Udeya wears on her arm a large loop of emerald green which is strung with four knots of pale green and black; the knot of a wingleader. Lacing through this knot is a glittery emerald strand that symbolizes her lifemate.

The verdure of sun-ripened fields fades, a wash of pale light from a harvest moon faintly etiolating the vibrancy of this dragon’s colouring, the hint of first frost adding a subtle iridescence to her hide. Dusk-darkened greens embrace the delicate muzzle and sweep over back and haunches as twilight curls around tail's tip, the ochre of sunburnt foliage tipping her neckridges - indication of autumn's imminent arrival. Wingsails still retain the brilliance of spring's freshness, a leafy pattern etched into the fragile membranes that stretch between 'spars tinted with the blush of seasoned apples. The gentle curve of her belly is dappled by a glimmer of viridity - gilt-edged embellishments reminiscent of wheat-heads contrasting to her otherwise obfuscatory shading. Olive hues are a return to nocturnal virescence, curling down each limb only to end where earth-dark talons reside.

Udeya is smart and organized, sometimes to the point of being boorish. She is also one of those girls who grew up too soon, both physically and in terms of maturity. Her foster parents were so quick to see her off that they overlooked the fact that she was still a child. She started off as a nanny at Southern Weyr, until she was searched by T'rrin and Blue Cyonth. She stood on the sands during a terrible rainstorm that left all the candidates soaking wet and unable to see either each other or the hatchlings that wandered over the sands. On top of making it through the day unmauled, Udeya walked off the sands with a little green hatchling, Anaith.

Udeya was born and raised in a hold, far away from the dragon world. This made her very unknowledgeable about the world of dragons and dragonriders. Whatever she learned about either of those two things, she learned from N'all, Niare or T'hren; or worse, she learned them the hard way. On top of this, her tall, top-heavy body made her one of the clumsier candidates and it was common to see both Udeya and/or Anaith tripping over their own feet during lessons.

Even after graduating her lessons and becoming Wingsecond with Starflame wing. Shortly afterward, she became the wingleader of Starflame. She would keep that position for a few years and devote much of her personal time to the hidework and the training of her wingriders. During this time, she didn't have a love life, though this didn't seem to bother Udeya. She was young and still prone to the girlish crushes that young women have. Anaith was her companion and this was enough to make her happy.

Unfortunately, she wasn't destined to keep her position forever. After one flight, Udeya discovered she was pregnant. Despite being a rider, she decided to keep her child. This and problems with her growing overweight and out of shape made it clear that a lifestyle change would need to be made. Udeya surrendered her knot so that she could spend more time with her son and, perhaps, have more time to take care of herself.

This didn't turn out to be such a bad situation. As the end of pass came, Udeya discovered that she enjoyed suddenly having more options in her life. She and Anaith didn't have to face the threat of thread anymore and she could be a mother to Kodey. Lately, she has been spending a lot of time with A'dar, rider of Brown Aventh.
